I am looking for my great grandfather and his parents. His name was Joseph E. Wells. No middle name only initial. Born April 20, 1882 in or near Dallas, TX. His fathers name was John Wells and his mother was Talitha Smith. It is said she was a full blooded Cherokee or Choctaw. I have not been able to track anything farther than Joseph Wells.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My gr. grandmother's maiden name was WELLS, and she came from Maury Co., TN.....I live in TX., and there were only a handful of my clan, that migrated here. Would like to correspond with any WELLS family members. Her father was John F. WELLS, who married Martha Louise Williams WELLS. Would like to learn more about the WELLS; possibly attend a family reunion in Volunteer State. Thanks

He was born in Wylie, Collins, Texas in 1873, We think he may be from the Glover Wells Line that came from Kentucky in the 1850's, but not sure. His children said he was a Choctaw Indian. We have not been able to find any solid evidence. Since none of his children knew who his parents were, It is possible that they were both dead before he was grown. He had a brother named Lewis, and a sister named Martha. Another borther called Lem and there was a pair of twins in there somewhere. No one seems to know the order of birth on the kids or anything. John Glover Wells did mary in Rockwall in 1901 to Henrietta /Cruzan/ or spelled /Crusan/ Her Family is well documented. Did the Choctaw people keep records?
