I am looking for information on my husband's ancestors.
- His parents, Pasquale Fallavollita and Filomena DiMarzio had 2 children; John (1953) and Adrian (1948).
- My husband does not know the names of his paternal grandparents (both died young).
- His maternal grandparents were Giovanni DiMarzio and Cristina DeSantis. His mother had 2 brothers, Luciano (who became a priest and stayed in the area) and Americo.
If you have any information on this family I would love to hear from you.
My family in Villetta Barrea starts with my Great Grandfather Salvatore D'ottavio his mother is a Cristina DiComos D'Ottavio. Salvatore's wife is Maria, whom immigrated about a year before he did to America, they married in US no clue where but I think Pennsylvania or New Jersey. I find them with their children in 1910 having just moved to Chicago from New Jersey. In Chicago they are also housing a Celestino Tarquinio. After 1910 I cannot find any information on Maria but I get the impression that Salvatore may have remarried by his enlistment in 1942 into the Military. Upon finding Salvatore's brothers who are now living on US soil mostly Vineland,New Jersey, Philadelphia and Chicago. in 1920 living with brother Olnindo I found a Vincenzo Celedonio living with the family along with Olindo's other brother Giuseppe who would later take in their mother Cristina. I know there's a connection as from what I'm seeing from posts on other sites the Tarquinio's and Celedonio's families are interwoven. I think my great grandmother Maria might be from one of these familes if not does anyone know how they came to live with the D'Ottavio's
Hi Dee, So much has been found in the 2 years since I made the post! I contacted the archives in Villetta Barrea, the girl whom I still correspond with was amazing. From Giusy I got that my GGG Grandmother was Maria Liboria Celindonio. I don't doubt we are related on some level, just dont know if their is a closer connection. My Great Grand Uncle Felice D'Ottavio married a Michalina Celidonio as well. Your GG Grandmother's name strikes a cord as well! Just last night I revisited undocumented information pertaining to my family that I haven't put up but the name Belesar is a middle name to one of my Grandfather's.The names could just be the male and female variations. The information also revealed a Rosa Tarquino is one of my Grandmothers too.
Maybe we can figure the exact connection out together?!? What information do have on your family? I don't believe I found Vincenzo in 1930 did he go back to Italy? I, also must admit since he was living with Olindo And Giuseppe. Your GG Grandfather was probably close with my Great Grandfather too, as Giuseppe, Salvatore and Olindo were extremely close.
My tree here is DOTMAC if you run a tree search for any of the names mentioned you should come to it. If by chance it doesn't allow you access to my tree contact me at myheritage and put in your personal email so I can send you an invite that gives you access.
Hello- I’ve started researching my family and I also have “Celidonio” that was my great, great grandparents that came from Villetta Barrea, Italy and I’ve found that one of their mother’s maiden name was “Tarquinio” but that's all I have.I’m looking for a connection too if you have already found it would love it if you would share your information. My Great great grandparents were named Gerardo Antonio and Angela Maria Celidonio when they came to the US they started using the names Frank and Mary.
Hi again, Going through some documents I have on this site I can tell you I have a Maria Celedonio Di Ianni travelling with my Great Great Grand Aunt Vittoria Di Cristofaro in 1920 heading to Pittsburg. I have a Giuseppe Celedonio travelling with my Great Great Grand Uncle Pio D'Ottavio on 4-1-1893 going to NY. With my Great Grandfather Salvatore there is a Giovannia Celedonio Ciraletta along w/ her kids and it looks like our families have another connection that I had totally missed till now. A Carmello Di Cosmo married a Giacondo Celedoino he is also on the ship Republic on 1-14-1909, the page is filled with people from Villetta..
If you are scouring through manifests on Ancestry,Castlegarden.org or Ellis Isalnd if an Origin read's Barrea, Villetta or L'Aquila its probably related to the family and I know with D'Ottavio some records especially on familysearch.org are from Chieti, I haven't made a connection to to mine but I wouldn't discredit them as not being related.
