Thanks for your reply. My great great grandfather was born in Warrington Lancashire in 1832 (14th June) and his father was William but we are not sure if we have the right one. We have him listed as 1804 Warrington Lanchashire and married Ann Milnes, mother being ALice Mercer. Do any of these names ring bells.
One of my old cousins who was doing the family history was killed a year ago and he had told me that William Standish was a SIR. When we had the Victorian bushfires all his books which he was writing (including the Standish Family History) were distroyed. So we start from scratch. (nearly)
If you can shred any light on the above it would be appreciated.
PS -- also have a name of Anna Dorthea Heiniche -- this was found in a photo frame with 3 other baptismal certificates dated 1903 with all the others being Standish names. Are there any Heiniche over there?
Still not ringing any bells, but will rummage around and find you something. You must have a link somewhere because the Standish family were widespread in Lancashire. I have a couple of cousins who are researching more on the Standish family, and will contact them too. I hope we can find you something as the Standish family have a very very long line and we go as far back as the 500's and Charlemagne, Norway, Germany, France etc. Henry Beauclerc the 1st King of England is a gt grandfather of mine.
My ancestors came from Lancashire I believe there names were Standish. My great grandfather was Samual David Standish and his father was Thomas Standish. If you think you can help me find out more please email me back and I will give you more information that may help. Roz (Australia)
Don't recognise the names, however, they probably do fit in somewhere. The Standish family has a terrific history, and were tied up with the Duxbury family also. I don't know how much research you have done but it would be very interesting to hear from you. My e-address is abi288@hotmailcom
