Looking for other SC Stalnakers who moved to Ga and Al. My ggggrandfather was John L. Stalnaker born 1812-1819 in prob. Edgefield Co. SC. John married Jane Gregory, prob his 2nd wife in Macon Co Al 1843. He named his first son James, b 1841 (to first wife?). Because of naming practices of that time, it suggests to me that his father's name may have been James. I have found, in the 1820 Edgefield Co SC census, a James living a few households from Samuel and Rebecca Rountree Stalnaker. In James hh are male children the right age for my John. My question to anyone who may be able to answer, Is anyone familiar with this James and who he might be and the possible names of those in his hh? His proximity to Samuel suggests to me that he is related in some way. This search for John's parentage has gone on for years with no results and I do hope there may be someone else searching for the same line. John probably had several brothers...possibly Joseph, Richard and Adam. Adam also married a Gregory (Kitty) and lived in Al/ Miss/Al.
I am looking forward to hearing from someone on this line.
Hello!! Looking for any information on the death of Luceba (Stalnaker) Taylor, wife of Samuel Taylor. I know she died when my great grandfather was about 3 (1897ish). I don't know if she is buried in Mouse Cemetery (Elkins, WV) with the Taylor family. I do know that there were a lot of Stalnaker's for many generations in that county, so maybe had their own cemetery.
Stalnaker's appear many times on that part of my family tree, so really any information would be GREAT. Thank you!! ~~Amanda
