The Mitchell brothers were rather close and I was fortunate to know them all. My grandfarther was Ross James Mitchell who was married to "Suzy" Mitchell nee Ainslie also from Knysna. The youngest brother, Raymond passed away some 2 years ago in Knysna and was the last living of their generation.

Hyman GROSS was married to Miriam (nee HARRIS) ... they had 5 children, Dorothy; Rosey; Ruthie; Phyllis & Freda
Miriam died in 1941/2 and she pre-deceased Hyman
Miriam was the sister of my grandfather - Reuben HARRIS. Their parents were Moses & Esther (born SAMUEL)
My grandfather was James Deacon ( born 1887- country I think South Africa) and he married Helen Martin.
From What I understand they lived in Randfontein West Rand South Africa.
My grandfather was in the mining industry and my grand mother was a school teacher.
As both my parents are deceased and my interest in a family history is new information is scarce.
I am aware of a link to the Deacons from England who came to the Eastern Cape ( apparently 3 brothers??) and am hoping this may lead me to further information or contacts
I am looking for information on the parents of Hester Petronella Frederika Potgieter, born 3 October 1854 and her sister Sara Johanna Potgieter. Hester married Carl Friedrich Wilhem Appel and her sister Sara married Carl's brother August Simon Friedrich Appel.
Hester and Sara were born in Uitenhage, therefor I assume that their parents lived in Uitenhage at that time. Hester's father might be Hermanus Lambertus Potgieter, as her second son was named Hermanus Lambertus. Unfortunately there are numeroous Hermanus Lambertus Potgieters. I couldn't find one from Uitenhage.
