Matilda Caroline SMITHSON, dau. of Joseph Bonaparte SMITHSON and Sarah THOMAS, was born 14 April 1841 in Graves Co., Kentucky. She married Joseph Dennis RIDDLE in October of 1857 in Barry Co., Missouri. They had at least 17 children, mostly all born in Barry Co., Missouri. Children: James Andrew; Amanda C.; William Robert; Nancy E.; Joseph T.; Susan E.; Tempa (Temperance?) Louise; Samuel N.; Dora Virginia "Rebecca"; George L.or A.; Martha Tennessee; Rozella and John Henry. Joseph D. RIDDLE served in the Missouri Militia during the Civil War.
