Looking for proof of parents of David Dixon BRIGGS. bc 1822 Rome, Oneida, New York. Left USA aboard a whaling ship, arriving in New Zealand c1849-50. He married in New Zealand 3 times, and died in Auckland, 1907.
We have never been able to find David's roots. Did not go back to USA after arriving in NZ. therefore would not be on any USA census reports from 1850 onwards.
It is not known if he married in USA prior to coming to NZ.
I am interested in locating abstracts for Oneida County, marriage, land, probate for example.Abstracts of the records not the indexes.If you know of abstracts for Oneida County or New York State please let me know.The records can either be available on the internet or printed in a book.I am having difficulty locating anything.Thanks for your help.
