My grandfather, William nmn (C.) Seifert, born July 3, 1896, came to the US from (maybe Hamburg) Germany in 1912 or 1913. His family sent him to avoid the war in Europe. He lived with Lawrence and Dorothy Gredlein in the Washington D.C. area. He took on the "C" as his middle initial. He married Bertha Krause in approximately 1920 and they had 3 girls - Helen, born in 1923, Dorothy (Dolly) in 1926, and Jean in 1932. He was a butcher with the Auth and then Armour meat plants prior to his death in 1958 in Washington D. C.
I am looking for anyone who knew him, either in the U.S. or Germany, or family members who can help me with family information. His immigration and Naturalization papers have been lost over the years, making it difficult to find ancestry information on him.
Hi I just saw your posting. I believe I located William's WWI and WWII draftcards. I'm not sure if this is your William but it is in the DC area.
William Seifert living in Baltimore Maryland. He was born 3 July 1896 in Baden, Germany. He's a German citizen. He was employed in Maryland and had an uncle, Joseph Seifert, in Washington DC. This was in 1918. There is a town listed before Baden...I think it says Walden.
I tried to attach the draftcard but it would not work. Please send your direct email and I will send the image if you need it.
