This is my great grandfather. He was born in Southampton,England in 1858. I have a marraige record for him showing a father named Samuel Roberts and have also found records for a William Roberts as his father. I find it unlikely that there are two Samuel Archibald Roberts born in 1858, in Southampton England. Can anyone help me shed some light on this quandry?
Searching for information on George R. Roberts born Kentucky in 1821, married Nancy Jones 14 Oct, 1839 in Calloway County, Kentucky. 1880 Census shows them in Pigeon Township, Baxter County, Arkansas. Their children were: Willian H., Aron F.,Clarette E.(my Greatgreatgrandmother),Charles W.,Martha E., and Nancy F.
1840 Census shows them in Knights Township, IL.
Clarette E.(Ellen)married John W. Stapleton born 1838 in Arkansas, died 1913 Mountain Home, Baxter County, Arkansas.
Their children were: Lulu, Charlie, Allie and Jessie Richard, my Grandfather, born Mountain Home, Arkansas 1895, died April 21, 1963 Webb City, Jasper County, Missouri.
Don't know if we might be related, but my great-great-grandfather was John A Roberts (born in Tennessee) who married who married Sarah Boziarth from Taney County, Missouri. They had Louisa Eudora Roberts, James Wesley Roberts (my great grandfather), Geoge C. Roberts who married Hester A Sims, and Waymon L. Roberts. George C and Hester are both buried in the Minnow Creek Cemetery, Johnson County, Arkansas as well as their son John W. Roberts. My understanding is my Roberts came from Tennessee and Kentucky up through Arkansas to Taney County, Missouri, with some of them getting off at Arkansas and staying there.
I am over at my daughter's this week at Oronogo. I'm at cell phone 459-6922 if you think we might be related off in the distance. Send me an e-mail at tomleerob@hotmail.com

I am looking for information on my ggrandfather, James Charner Roberts, who was born in Oct., 1861, in Atlanta, Fulton, GA, USA. I know that he said his father was from S. Carolina and his mother was from Georgia. He was married to his first wife whose name is unknown in either Georgia or Alabama. He married his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Hurst (Herst), daughter of Guilford Hurst in Jan., 1889, in Boaz, Etowah, Alabama. They had two children - James Marion Roberts (my grandfather) who was born on March 19, 1892 and a daughter Ethel Roberts Mitchell who was born about 1895. Both children were born in Boaz. They moved to Tanglewood, Lee, TX, sometime between 1895 and 1900. My ggrandmother Mary died in 1900. My ggrandpa also went by Jim C. Roberts. He lived with Joel Morton (maybe a cousin) in Red Apple, Alabama after his first wife died. His house had burned down, but I don't know if his first wife died in the fire or at another time. I would appreciate any information that I could get about GGrandpa's parents. I also know that he had a brother named John Roberts. Any information can be sent to my e-mail address: smoan@sbcglobal.net.
My tree has a James Roberts b. about 1867 in Georgia.
My line goes through his brother Robert, there is a sister Henrietta and another brother Gary all of them were born in the 1860's.
They were the children of James Gary Roberts b. 1833 (family from Sumter, SC) and Mary Jackson (of Harris County, GA). James Gary Roberts died in 1877 and his widow remarried a man (Jones) that moved to Florida.
Rodney, I don't think your James is a relative because I only know of one brother of my ggrandfather, James Charner Roberts, and his name was John. My ggrandfather was married 3 times: 1st wife is unknown; 2nd wife (ggrandmother) was Mary Elizabeth Hurst (Herst) whose father was Guilford Marion Hurst; 3rd wife was Mary Williams (?) Linn a widow with a son named Albert Linn who was also called Pete. I have not heard of a James Gary Roberts from any of my relatives, but I will certainly check with them to be sure.
If I do happen to find a connection, I'll certainly let you know. Thanks for taking the time to send me the information that you have.
I need help in finding the UK Regiment details for John Roberts, born about 1828 to 1833 in County Armagh, Ireland (possibly Lurgan area), served and wounded in the Crimean War, married about 1855 at St. Hellier, Jersey, Channel Islands to Johanna Matthews, was at Fulford Barracks, York, England with wife in 1871 (census) and also in 1881 (without wife who died 1878 there), immigrated to Brisbane, Queensland around 1897 to join his brother Robert and family, and where he died 21 July 1908. He was listed as "pensioner" at time of death. As Australian pensions were not introduced until 1909, his must have been a British Army pension.
Any help in finding his British Army Regiment or service records or pension records would be appreciated as I wish to place an appropiate headstone on his unmarked grave in Toowong Cemetery, Brisbane. Lest We Forget.
