I am responsing to a post you have had here for some time. I started my family tree a couple of months ago and am very disappointed that I have very little information about my father's side of the family. I know his family were Germans that immigrated to Russia, and they came sometime in the late 1800's early 1900's to Quebec, settling in Saskatchewan, Canada across the border of North Dakota. My great-grandfather was Jacob Reis and his wife Theresia Shwartz. My grandfather, their son Christian Reis, changed his name to "Ries" which is now our family name. Christ Ries married Monica Ferderer in Glen Ullin (Bismarck), North Dakota, My g-grandparents continued to live in Canada as I have a cousin (Frank Ries) who remembers going with grandparents to visit greatgrandparents. Frank tells me we have relatives in Oregon as well in North Dakota but I have not been able to find any. Could you possibly be that link.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Bernie
from the research I have done, I really don;t think so. I'm really sorry. However, my cousin gave me an idea that you might find helpful. I did. Google Christian Reis. be sure to spell it the way he did when he was born. I think I saw that name when I was searching for my grandfather's ancesters. It took me back another two or three generations. Good luck
