My husband Alexandros Vlachopoulos was born in Athens, Greece on the 6th of 11- 1945. His parents were Dimitris Vlachopoulos (Greece) and Myra Antich (Yugoslavia). When my husband was 1 year old his parents divorced and he saw his father only 2 times after that. In 1999 his mother died in Athens and left no family. We heard that Dimitris Vlachopoulos was married again and probably lived in Sweden and Belgium and probably had more children. He might have worked in the Consulate or Embassy of Greece.
My husband died on the 26th of March this year and our children would like to find out if their father had any (half) brothers or sisters and if so would like to know who they are and maybe get in touch with them. I know that in the later years my husband would have loved to meet some of his family but was in the end to ill to proceed. Ihope somebody will read this message and will have some anwers for us.
I'm looking for any information that could expand on my knowledge of my maternal Ryder ancestry. My great Uncle is Samuel Ryder who I believe to have lived in Athens, Greece in 1993.
My great grandparents are John Clarence Ryder (also known as Clarence John Ryder) and Minnie May Mullenax Ryder. They had six children (that I know of), 3 boys and 3 girls. Those children's names are and were Dorothy (now Arbogast), Lolabelle (now McCarter), Virginia (Arbogast - now deceased), Delbert, Leonard Clarence Ryder (my grandfather) and Samuel Ryder last known as of 1993 to be living in Athens, Greece. Many of the Ryder family members I speak of are in West Virginia near Durbin in Pocahontas County (or were at the time). Others moved to South Carolina near Travelers Rest.
I wish I had started on my ancestry much earlier. I had one opportunity to travel to Greece and ran around town in Athens for many days while I was there. Had I known my current connection to Athens then, I could have attempted to look Samuel Ryder up somehow or to research him and make contact prior to traveling.
I am looking for any relatives of Elias Hatzigiannakis born about 1856 and Stamatoula Papadiamandi born about 1857, who lived in Avlakia, Samou, Greece from approximately 1889-1935. Please contact me (MrsGenealogy@hotmail.com). I am trying to trace my family genealogy but cannot find anything beyond my Great-grandparents. Would love any help or information that can help me research.
I'm looking for George Karakostas from Elatia, Greece, he is supposed to be my birth father and I think I have two half sisters from him. If anyone knows anything about this man could you please let me know. Thank you
