My great,great,great grandfather William Matthews/Mathis may have been born in Wales or England in about 1790. He ended up in the USA in Virginia, and by 1800 was in Georgia. He had sons William H. born 1818, and John R. born 1821 in either South Carolina or Georgia. I don't have their mothers name.I know there were several Matthews brothers that came to the USA way back then. Hi I am Coral Thrupp Nee MATTHEWS. I am looking for any info on a Benjamin Matthews. Ben came to Australia in the 1840's. He married a Sarah Hurrell and they had six children. They both died in Port Pirie in Sth Aust.

I do not know if I have any in England , but my Granfather;s great grand father John Matthews was born in Glasgow Scotland in the 1700's and came to America his son James was born in 1789 in Glasgow Kentucky , the town was named by John for his birth home, so I am guessing John was about 25 or 30 in 1789 ,no record of his birth date,
