Our family lost a wonderful dear uncle this past week. Uncle James Lyons was one of our family's best. Husband to my mon's sister Aunt Jean Farley, Uncle Jim will be very much missed. For as long as I can remember he was a giant within the family. Such was he that today when I read his obit, I was shocked to read " Sgt. in the US Army during WW II earning two bronze stars for his service." ! Never did I hear him mention this. Each year every family reunion back from the 50s to 80s it was Uncle Jim who headed up and supported expense wise much of our Farley reunions. Again we have lost one of "the Greatest Generation" members!
Here is part of his obit and link:
"Lyons, James L. beloved husband of Jean (Farley) Lyons. Loving father of James (Linda) Lyons, Terence (Jean) Lyons, Susan (Charles) Fischesser, Cathy (Ken) Fitzgerald, Dan (Mary) Lyons, Amy Lyons & Emily Wehrly. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Daniel Lyons and Marion Connett. Monday, Dec 24, 2012 Age 86 yrs. Jim was a Sgt. in the US Army during WW II earing two bronze stars for his service. He was also a member of The Cincinnati Bar Association; Ohio State Bar Association;Purcell Council 2798 Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree, American Legion Post 199 and he was registered to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court."----
