Anyone have any gossip that they would like to share? I've noticed that there are ZERO celebrity My Heritage sites from or about Louisiana. I know that Louisiana has a few celebrities... somewhere - just not here.
I could've sworn I saw Ellen Degeneres on Our Story.
I wonder if Britney Spears has a family tree somewhere?
Maybe, someone will be nice and send me a few Louisiana celebrity family trees.

I can try to find some info. I believe that the Degemeres family was origionly in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. I was doing some historical work on the Mansura cemetery. The oldest section had been bulldozed and a lot of graves were lost.a member of the Degeneres family was looking for his ancestor's grave. It must have been in that section. We located the grave stone in a back yard , it was used for stepping stones with others.
Hope this is what type of blog you're looking for.

That is great that you were able to locate, but awful that they were using tombstones as "stepping stones"! And yes, this is exactly the sort of gossip that we like to hear. It is good to know that people care about where their loved ones are buried and it is better to know that the cemetery in which they are being kept, is maintained appropriately. There should be more enforcement of the law with regards grave desecration, headstone stealing and so forth in Louisiana. There are soo many private cemeteries that are hidden in the thick that it is nearly an impossible task. No one should be bulldozing a cemetery! As far as using headstones for stepping stones, I'm sure that there is a law or two against that! And if there is not - I'd like to pitch a fit and a conniption towards creating one at the AG's office, CRT's office, local parish office and others.
